Terranova Coach Tour

Forty-eight ex-firies, together with their partners & friends enjoyed a great week of comradeship and fun on the NSW Central Coast staying at the Terranova Resort at Niagara Park, Gosford. The hosts, Sam & Mary, provided comfortable accommodation and great meals. The coach was very comfortable and Paul the Coach Captain ensured safe and enjoyable travel.

Ex-firies and ex-firie's Widows from: Bowen; Caloundra; Toowoomba; Ipswich; Gold Coast; Logan; Redland Bay and Brisbane, enjoyed each others company. (sometimes the most outrageous stories were told). This tour demonstrated that, in our Association there is no rank. Included in the Tour Group was Col MacKenzie (retired Commissioner of Fire Service) and his wife Valerie.

Each day was packed with interesting excursions such as: Ettalong Beach; Woy Woy; Killcare Heights; Crackneck Lookout and The Entrance.   There was an enjoyable cruise on the beautiful Brisbane Waters and visits to Gosford; the huge Erina Fair, Australian Reptile Park; the historic town of Morpeth and the Japanese Gardens.

The evenings were full of fun. There was an hilarious night of BOCCE, where the ladies starred and Avis Eggins was the champion; a night of music; a delicious smorgasbord dinner at which plush Central Coast Leagues Club; and a very funny entertainer put on a great show.

During the 12 hour coach trip back to Brisbane plenty of heads were nodding, and at times audible snoring. It was a great week and from the general response to the week, Terranova Resort will be visited again in the future.

The Tour Group thanked the Resort Management, Sam & Mary, and the Coach Captain Paul for providing us with a memorable week. Special mention must go to Denise (Mother Hen) for making all the arrangements.
